Whitney Ridge Stables...
Whitney Ridge Stables is an equestrian center located in Higganum, CT (central CT) our facility has both indoor & outdoor riding arenas. We have a variety of horses but specialize in quarter horses and travel the AQHA circuit.
Owners of Whitney Ridge...
Whitney Ridge is a family operated business. We like to keep a family atmosphere and cater largely to children.
Whitney Lagace started her business in 1987 and has been in the horse world for the last 28 years and professionally in the business for the last 17 years. Whitney's main focus now is to teach the up and coming and experienced riders for the show circuit.
Michael Lagace (Whitney's husband) helps out by managing all the business finances.
Diane Planken (Whitney's mother) co-owns and manages the barn and handles all the day to day business issues.
Whitney Ridge Staff...
We have a very enthusiastic and positive staff working for us. As a team we are able to take the beginner rider help them enjoy and have success at whatever level they chose to accomplish. We have two assistant trainers Ronie Hay & Dawne Wilson.
Ronie has been with our farm for the since 1986 and has developed into an excellent trainer.
Dawne has 30 years of riding experience and has been teaching for the last 21 years in Western, Hunt Seat & Jumping. Dawne also has her own place for the last 10 years in Middletown, CT 'Colonial Hill Quarter Horses' which there she has her own group of riders that attend the local open and SNEHA shows.
We also have an excellent lesson program with four instructors. Whitney teaches mostly the AQHA show clients and Kim Antol, Lynn Ficara & Roni Hay are available for all other general and advance riding lessons which can be scheduled through either Whitney Ridge management or the individual instructor.
Our Clients...
We have an excellent group of clients. Some are new to the horse world. While others have been riding horses for years and they continue to sharpen their skills in the lesson program so that they will be competitive in the AQHA circuit and open circuits.
